Windsor FC mascot Scotty finishes half marathon
Windsor FC mascot Scotty the Stag completed his biggest challenge to date when he finished Sunday's Windsor Half Marathon.
His official race time was 3 hours and 17 minutes, but after starting at the back and spending 25 minutes on his unique mid-race pit stops, Scotty's elapsed running time was more like 2 hours and 45 mins.
A decent effort for the only entrant in the race measuring over seven foot tall. Scotty's suffering was not in vain either.
The big Stag was sponsored for the race and it looks like he will raise just short of £2,000 for Thames Hospicecare based in Hatch Lane, Windsor.
Matt Stevens from Windsor FC Supporters Club said: "We're all immensely proud of our great mascot Scotty. He's a credit to himself and Windsor Football Club and we're lucky to have him.
"Hauling that big seven foot frame up and down through his Windsor Great Park home was incredibly difficult, so to effectively run under three hours was impressive.
"I know his right hoof had swollen up considerably on the day after the race, so the big lad must be suffering.
"I'm sure he will comfort himself though with the knowledge that his exertions have raised such a large sum of money for Thames Hospicecare.
They are a great local charity very close to Scotty's heart and he'll be delighted to have given their fund raising such a boost."
