Windsor FC boss left fuming by late postponement

Keith Scott has called for change.

Windsor FC boss Keith Scott was left fuming after his side's game at Dorking last night (Tuesday) was called off due to a frozen pitch.

The game had originally been given the go-ahead after an inspection by a local referee in the late afternoon so Windsor made the trip to Surrey.

But Scott says he knew as soon as he got to the ground the game would be called off and his fears were confirmed by the match official at about 7pm.

This is the second time in just a matter of weeks that Windsor have seen a game called off in these circumstances and Scott insists something must be done.

He said: "It amazes me that this can keep happening. Something has to be done.

"The local referee inspected the pitch at 3.30pm and by his judgement the pitch was playable.

"What's ridiculous is he can only give his opinion on what the pitch is like at that time, that is his directive.

"So when he looked at it, it was soft and tacky. But when the match official got there at 7pm he was there for two minutes before he called it off."

Scott added: "I knew it was going to happen. When you looked at the weather forecast it said it was going to be minus one at 7pm.

"It's crazy, they have to change the directive because it's just going to keep happening.

"This isn't professional football. You have players who have to leave work early, lose money, to try and get to these games.

"People have to start using common sense."
