VIDEO: Slough Town's Jon Underwood & Neil Baker on Saturday's 2-1 win over Hitchin Town
Jon Underwood admitted Slough Town were second best in Saturday's 2-1 win over Hitchin Town, but hailed their hard work in grinding out a result.
Speaking after the final whistle Underwood accepted Hitchin had been on top for long periods, adding that the visitors would be disappointed to leave Holloways Park empty handed.
Eddie Smith stretched every sinew in his neck to direct home a 50th minute header from Jake Parsons’ cross and Billy Jeffreys' stooping far post header from Luke Knight's excellent free kick gave the home team a barely deserved 2-1 win after Matt Lench deservedly equalised for Hitchin on the hour mark.
Neil Baker agreed they'd have happily taken a point and said to clinch all three was a real bonus.
Saturday’s win moved Slough up to eighth in the table and within five points of the play-off berths.
