Magpies return to action with Thurrock trip

Maidenhead United FC finally look set to return to action on Saturday when they make the journey to Conference South basement boys Thurrock.

The Magpies have not played in the league for three weeks due to the freezing weather which has decimated recent fixture lists.

But with the forecast looking positive this weekend, Johnson Hippolyte’s team will be looking to continue where they left off before their enforced break.

The Magpies boss said:“I think we’d only lost one in seven, we’d just beaten Eastbourne and had a very good draw with Sutton.

“We were in good form and we need to reproduce that straight away.

“We’ve tried to keep everyone ticking over in training but I’m sure the boys will be lacking a  bit of sharpness.

“Nothing beats playing games but hopefully we will be alright.”

He added:“We’ve been working hard in training and Cox Green School have been great.

“They bent over backwards to accommodate us on Saturday and that really helped us.”

United are at full strength for the game at Thurrock with defenders Leigh Henry (hamstring) and Mark Nisbet (foot) using the break to recover from injuries.
