Exodus begins at York Road
The nightmare has become a reality for Johnson Hippolyte.
His squad is being decimated before his eyes as Maidenhead United FCs players seek a better financial deal elsewhere.
The Magpies boss revealed to the Advertiser that Shane Gore, Dominic Sterling, Richard Pacquette and Ashley Nicholls have left the club, while Ben Surey, Ashley Smith and Mustafa Tiryaki are still undecided.
However, Hippolyte has received a boost with news that Mark Nisbet and Bobby Behzadi have agreed to stay at York Road for another year.
“Shane’s going - he’s got numerous offers,” began Hippolyte.
“Dom’s keeping his options open. To be fair, he took a pay cut at the start of last season, so to take another is too much to ask.”
He went on: “Richard should have signed for a Conference club yesterday (Tuesday) on a two-year deal.
“Ash is going to Bishops Stortford, but nothing is signed yet.
“Ben I spoke to at length. He’s in two minds. He wants to stay but he’s thinking of going travelling and will decide in the next week or two, but he’s leaning towards going.
On 22-year-old Tiryaki’s future, Hippolyte explained: “There’s been a lot of speculation around Tiryaki.
“Mustafa signed a contract last season and we’ve made an offer to keep him.
“But we had an offer from an unknown club and as he’s under 24 we hold his registration and would get a fee for him. It’s all up in the air at the moment.
“But if he stays here for a year, he can be ready for League football.”
Finally, Hippolyte moved to pour water on rumours he is set to join Farnborough, saying: “Hand on heart I can say I’ve never had any contact from Farnborough.”
