Burnham FC boss Risbridger says match against Banbury United is a six-pointer
Joint managers Gareth Risbridger and Danny Gordon face the most important contest of their five-match reign at Burnham tonight (Tuesday) when they travel to bottom-placed Banbury United.
The Blues are just three points ahead of their hosts and if they are to start the fightback against relegation from the Southern League Premier Division then three points would appear to be their must-have present this Christmas.
Risbridger agrees that this match could be a defining moment in Burnham's campaign.
"It’s a very big game, a six-pointer," he said.
"If they win, they’ll pull us back towards them, but if we can win it will help us pull away from the bottom.
"I just hope we can build on what we have already done and start scoring. Goals win games.
"For us goals will also help take the pressure off our midfield and defence."
The Blues head into the match without a win under the new management duo, and having scored just once in five outings.
Risbridger is confident his side can turn around their form and says he knows what to expect from Banbury.
He said: "We have had a report on Banbury - their strengths and weaknesses - and although I don’t want to say what we know, I’m well aware of what we’re up against."
The Blues follow up the trip to Oxfordshire with a match at Hungerford Town on Boxing Day and then entertain Chesham United on New Year's Day.
