Senior MAC women star at cross county champs
Maidenhead Athletic Club’s (MAC) senior women were the club stars at the Chiltern Cross Country League fixture on Saturday finishing second in Division 2.
First home was Kelly Burwood in fifth (second V35) followed by Jessica Pitt in eighth (second senior), on debut, and Louise Croxson in 10th (fifth V35).
Laura MacGregor and Emma Coombs also put in strong performances finishing in 26th (11th senior) and 30th (14th senior) respectively.
Burwood is leading the V35 individual rankings after the first four races of the series.
In the senior men’s race, Rob Mc-Ewan finished 20th (11th senior) with Will Ganley 33rd (19th senior), Justin Coombs 41st (21st senior), Michael Hill 43rd (sixth V50) - taking him to fifth in the overall V50 rankings - and Martin Tomkins 48th (23rd senior) following.
The Juniors also put on impressive performances.
Polly Batstone finished 10th in the u13s girls race with Grace Goldfinch 31st and the improving Jessica Williams 33rd.
Toby Ralph had a good run in the u11s boys race, finishing in 46th. While in the u11s girls race, Abbie Jones put in another strong performance and was rewarded with 18th place followed in by Jessica Dibley (65th) and Megan Williams (68th).
* On Sunday, Leonard Richardson took part in the Stubbington Green 10k, a popular event on the south coast, finishing in 38mins 56secs.
* In ideal running conditions MAC’s Simon Emsley plodded around the Houston Marathon, after two months of recovery from fractured ribs. His goal was to finish, which he did, in a slow time of 5hrs 17mins 57secs.
* MAC’s Gerry Killen ran the Rough n’ Tumble - a 10-mile off road race near Pewsey in Wiltshire.
Overcoming lots of mud and some serious hills he finished in 1.36.08.
