Olympics theme for MAC road race
One of the first and most traditional of Maidenhead’s sporting events hopes to illuminate its Olym-pic heritage in 2012.
On Good Friday April 6, the 59th Maidenhead Easter 10 Mile road race, organised by Maiden- head Athletic Club, will starand finish at Maidenhead Office Park.
The race has an association with the Olympics as Maiden- head Athletic Club are the guardians of one of the original torches for the 1948 London Olympics.
It is hoped the torch will be on display at this year’s race, giving runners the opportunity to see it as they pass the start line.

* A lack of runners meant that Maid-enhead Athletic Club (MAC) could not avoid a last-place finish at the Tadley Runners cross country event.
Over a course comprising a mixture of heath, woodland and open fields, including watery ditches, MAC runners were led home by Chris McEwen in 49th place in 38mins 01secs.
He was followed by Paul Bradshaw in 90th (40.57), Jeremy Lockett in 101st (41.43) and John Rickman in 137th (44.22). Despite a hip injury, Carolyn Lock- ett finished as the 39th woman in 45.47.
