Impressive medal haul for WSEH

Morgan Lake claimed gold in the u17s long jump.

Medals were again on the agenda for Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow AC (WSEH) athletes during the South of England Indoor Championships   at the weekend.

Morgan Lake scooped gold in the u17s long jump with 5.53m and she won bronze in the 60m hurdles in 8.78secs. A surprise gold came in this latter event when Charlotte Williams with 9.42 in the u15s final.

Coach Steve McLennan led by example to the large contingent of WSEH pole vaulters by notching silver in the senior men’s category with his 4.70m clearance.

Multi-eventer Celia Quansah added to her pentathlon title of last weekend with a silver medal in the u17s shotput with 10.83. Rion Pierre scorched to a new personal best (pb) of 6.56 for silver in the 60m sprint.

The triple jump saw a welcome return from long-term injury for Michael Puplumpa and he achieved a massive pb of 15.64 to take the silver award.

Sophie Papps, who swept all before her last season, showed that the move into the u20s age group has not hindered her medal prospects and she took silver in the 60m in 7.59.

A trio of bronze medals were included in the WSEH medal haul. Khalid Al Abaidy showed his versatility by adding to his Herts cross-country gold, with a bronze in the 1,500m in 3.59mins 46secs, just heading Zak Curran who was fourth in 4.02.41.

Another bronze went to Shakira Wight in the senior women’s long jump with 5.89m with the final bronze falling to Shelayna Oskan in the 200m in 24.95.

Just out of the medals were Karryim Ir-ving in the senior long jump with a pb of 7.10m for fourth, Luke Quinn in the u17s high jump with a pb of 1.85m and Katja Eravisto in the senior 1,500m in 4.36.25.
