A racially aggravated attack on a taxi driver has led to a social care worker employed by the Royal Borough being suspended for misconduct. Katy Robinson has been removed from her role for two years following a conduct hearing by the General Social Care Council. The committee heard she had been convicted of attacking the unnamed driver by East Berkshire Magistrates Court following a trial in September.

Dorney Village Hall

A council tax hike to pay for the refurbishment of Dorney Village Hall has been narrowly approved. Dorney Parish Council received 243 returned questionnaires, which had asked 607 villagers whether they supported an annual increase in the parish precept of between £60.96 (Band H) and £20.28 (Band A) to help fund the £350,000 plans. Votes in favour totalled 125, while 118 were against, it was announced at a parish council meeting yesterday.

Dorney Village Hall

Villagers have had their say on contentious plans for a hike in council tax to pay for the refurbishment of Dorney Village Hall. Dorney Parish Council sent questionnaires to 607 residents at 297 households in the village asking whether they supported an increase in the parish precept to help fund the £350,000 plans. A deadline for returned forms passed on Monday and the results will be counted and presented to the council at a meeting on Tuesday.

The Royal Borough has set up the scheme with Housing Solutions

A pot of nearly £2m is being used to help first-time buyers get a foot on the housing ladder. The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and Housing Solutions are each putting £960,000 into a shared home ownership initiative starting later this month.
