Boots submit plans to take over Woolies site

The former Woolworths store in Windsor could be taken over by retail heavyweight Boots in September if plans are given the green light.
The chemist submitted a planning application to Royal Borough planners on April 22 to display internal illuminated fascia and hanging signs at the Peascod Street unit. This is yet to be approved.
One of the biggest retail outlets in the town centre has been empty since 'Woolies' closed nearly 18 months ago at Christmas 2008, and the news is a boost for the shopping district.
A Boots spokeswoman said: "Boots UK can confirm that, in September 2010, its store at 113 Peascod Street will be relocating to 17-18 Peascod Street, the former Woolworths store site.
"The new store will provide customers with a much wider offering."
