Inquest: Hospital patient, 16, was found with scarf around neck
An inquest has begun into the death of a teenager at specialist hospital for children with mental health disorders in Taplow.
Sarah Goldsmith, of Merley in Wimborne, was found dead with a scarf around her neck on the floor of her room at Huntercombe Hospital on September 8, 2008, the eve of her 17th birthday.
A jury were sworn at the inquest, held at Windsor Guildhall, on Monday.
The 16-year-old's mother, Carol, told jurors Sarah had suffered from depression since she was 13 and had previously tried to take her own life.
The inquest also heard the teenager had exchanged 'inappropriate' text messages with a healthcare assistant shortly before her death.
The inquest is expected to last eight days.
