A sneak thief stole an elderly widow's purse which contained a sentimental letter from her dead husband. The 75-year-old was shopping in Sainsbury's in Marlow on Tuesday when she noticed her black leather purse was missing. The thief struck in the West Street store between 11.15am and 11.50am. The purse also contained her bank cards and £210.
Football fans are hoping to stage a match in honour of England's first captain Cuthbert Ottaway - who played a game for Marlow FC back in the 1870s. A memorial game between Englandfans FC and Marlow FC is being planned for Riley Park, which was previously Crown Meadow and the home of Marlow FC from 1870 to 1914. Ottaway played for the Oak Tree Road outfit in the first ever FA Cup competition - with the Blues losing the game.

A 40-year-old man is still fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a car on Friday night in Marlow. The man was struck by a black VW Golf at about 9.40pm as he was walking along Little Marlow Road (A4155) close to the Esso petrol station. A police spokesman today said he was in a critical but stable condition at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital.
