The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has announced today that it will cut council tax by 1.5 per cent.

It is the third year that the council has made a cut to the tax.

Residents in Windsor and Maidenhead will continue to pay the lowest Band D council tax outside London.

The borough says it will mean that the average household council tax bill is £75.87 lower than if it had been frozen for the last three years, meaning a saving of £183.63.

Cllr Richard Kellaway (Con, Bisham and Cookham), lead Member for finance, said: “These are tough times for all of our residents and we know that for most people council tax is the largest bill they face after house payments.

"By consistently lowering this bill we allow our residents to decide how they spend their money. We know that our policy on council tax will put an extra £10 million into the local economy.”
