Monday Weather: Information about services

All waste collections across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead have been suspended for today.

This follows an early assessment on safety. Although the main roads are in good condition, some side roads and footways still have snow and pose difficulties for the 26 tonne collection lorries. Borough officers hope this is for just today and that waste collections will resume tomorrow.

Catch-up collections will be put in place once conditions improve. The civic amenity and household waste recycling centre are open.

In Slough bin men are out and about doing the usual Monday collections. Slough Borough Council said even though main roads are running fine, some minor roads may be too icy to safely use the collection lorry on. Gritters in Slough went out at 5am. Main roads are currently running fine.

No school buses were provided today for Waltham St Lawrence Primary School, Bisham Primary or Windsor's Alexander First School, while no Abba Coaches bus service for Altwood and Newlands Schools ran from Holyport and Bray.

A decision on dial-a-ride and Shopmobility services - suspended since Friday - will be made this morning.

Information about bus services is available at Traveline South East at http://www.travelinesoutheast.org.uk/

A number of schools have announced closures today. Click here for information.

Drivers are being warned that below freezing temperatures tonight will bring icy stretches of road tomorrow. Rain tomorrow could turn to sleet and more snow, leading to continued travel disruption.
