IT developer joining sporting legends on charity cycle ride
Two sporting legends will be joined by an IT developer on the cycle ride of their lives.
Adil Akkus, who lives in Thurlby Way, Cox Green, will take part in an epic charity fundraiser with former England cricketer Andrew Flintoff and ex-England rugby captain Lawrence Dallaglio.
The sport stars are undertaking a five-stage 2,862km trip between April 23 and May 18 from Olympia in Greece, the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games, to London, the home of the 2012 Olympics.
Adil, 38, will join them in Italy on April 27 for the second stage of the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam 2012 after being selected as one of 10 employees at Virgin Media, one of the sponsors.
He will cycle 455 miles in five days, raising money for the Dallaglio Foundation, the AF Foundation and Virgin Unite.
Adil said: "It's all for charity so the pain I'll go through is nothing in terms of the return."
