A-level photography student wins national competition

A photograph capturing a scene in a school production of Bugsy Malone has won a teenager a national competition.

Cox Green School pupil Ben Huntley will see his picture of the play's final scene displayed at The Strand Gallery in London later this month.

The competition entitled 'Where Do I Belong?" and organised by The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), received more than 2,000 entries.

Ben is one of 15 winners.

The A-level photography student positioned himself on a balcony to get the best view of the 'splurge' scene in the musical, held at the school in Highfield Lane in December, which is when the characters shoot each other with custard filled guns.

It was Ben's only photo of the scene that came out in clear focus.

The 16-year-old, who lives in Slough, said: "It was a shock to be chosen."

"People told me it was a pretty good picture but I didn't think it was good enough to get as far."
