Teenage chef Luke Thomas appears on Great British Menu
Teenage chef Luke Thomas became the youngest ever competitor on hit BBC Two show Great British Menu last night.
The 19-year-old, who is chef patron at Luke's Dining Room at the Sanctum on the Green hotel in Cookham Dean, took part in the Welsh heats of the competition, which will see the overall winners serve up a banquet for people associated with Comic Relief.
In the first of a week of programmes, Luke served up a twist on ham, eggs and pineapple, with judge Jeremy Lee awarding him a five out of 10.
He is competing against Richard Davies and 61-year-old Mary Ann Gilchrist, who described the young chef as old enough to be her grandchild.
Interviewed on the show, Luke said: "My food is simple and it's clean and this has really put me out of my comfort zone and put me at a different level."
