Residents object to proposed farmland access

Objections have been raised against plans to build new access to farmland in Holyport Road amid fears it could lead to further development and congestion.

Landowner Cliveden Properties Ltd wants to build the new entrance to 53 acres of land at Lodge Farm to allow agricultural vehicles easier access to the northern fields.

But villagers have said the new access could be the first step to the land, which is advertised for sale with Pike, Smith and Kemp for £1.65m, being used for development.

Other residents have also raised concerns traffic turning in and out of the site will cause further congestion in the road during peak hours as well as a danger to children walking to Holyport CE Primary School.

Fears of fly-tipping and travellers camping illegally on the land have also been raised in letters of objection.

The eight fields are farmed by Stroud Farm to grow feeding crops as well as graze cows and are accessed via Ascot Road.

The landowners says the new access, which will be 150 metres north of Stroud Farm Road, will stop farmers having to travel 1.2 miles to access the site.

In a planning statement, it also said the land would remain in agricultural use although the sale advertisement states 'the property offers good potential for alternative uses, subject to planning permission, including equestrian'.

The application is due to be discussed by Bray Parish Council at a meeting in Braywood Memorial Hall on Monday from 7.30pm.

A final decision over the application will be made by the Royal Borough at a later date.
