Man, 23, fractured friend's eye socket, court heard

gen_rcrowncourtgateA farm worker who fractured his friend's eye socket during a drunken attack has been told by a judge to expect a jail term.

Chris Pink 23, of Oakley Green Road, appeared at Reading Crown Court on Friday  where the prosecution described how he had headbutted Raymond Curley and punched him twice.

Notu Hoon, prosecuting, told the court Pink had attacked his friend in the early hours of May 2 last year following a drunken argument over a blanket.

The pair had been drinking with friends at the Three Elms Pub in Dedworth Road in Windsor and Pink told the court the pair had acted like 'drunken idiots.'

Mr Curley was taken to Wexham Park Hospital for treatment after the assault.

Pink, known as Pinkie to friends, admitted GBH at a plea and case management hearing in December but told the court on Friday he had punched Mr Curley only once.

The session, known as a Newton hearing, was held because Pink admitted the offence but disputed the prosecution's version of events and level of violence used.

Judge Ian Grainger said he believed the prosecution and Mr Curley's version of events, saying his injuries were consistent with being headbutted and punched twice.

Pink is set to be sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday, March 9.
