Wine bar battles to retain licence

100 Lounge Bar A catalogue of police complaints against a Slough High Street restaurant and night club was denied at a licensing committee hearing today.

A police dossier compiled on the 100 Lounge highlights fights inside and outside the premises, drug-taking in the toilets, and customers hospitalised and assaulted by staff.

Daniel Oscroft, representing the 100 Lounge – formerly known as Green Chilli – said today that police allegations had not been supported by witness statements.

Cllr May Dodds, chairman of the licensing sub-committee, said at the meeting in The Centre, Farnham Road, that she was ‘concerned’ that police had received little or no help from door staff, who had either ‘disappeared’ or failed to assist during disturbances.

Police, seeking to revoke the premises licence, claimed that since July last year, customers and police had been assaulted, police had been obstructed, a 14-year-old had been seen dinking at 1.30am and a 17-year-old youth had been attacked with a bottle.

The hearing continues. A decision is expected later today.
