Wine-maker's plan for Marlow factory

A wine-maker with aspirations to produce the 'best' fizz in the country wants to build a grape-processing factory in Marlow - but some neighbours are trying to flatten his plans.

Henry Laithwaite, 31, of wine merchant family Laithwaites, has applied to build a 7m-high and 30m-long winery in Pump Lane North with a tractor store, associated parking and access.

It is a private venture which will allow him to process grapes from his four-hectare vineyard once the vines have reached maturity.

However, some of his neighbours have described it as inappropriate development in the greenbelt which would ruin the 'rurual character' of the landscape.

See this tomorrow's Maidenhead Advertiser for the full story.
