Dog behaviour expert delighted for Britain's Got Talent's Pudsey

An animal lover who works with disturbed and unhappy pets says she is delighted at the success of Britain's Got Talent's award winning dog Pudsey. Sarah Whitehead is a celebrated canine and feline behaviour specialist who has written more than 20 books as well as running workshops and master classes. New Royal Borough mayor to be appointed tonight

The new mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead will be officially appointed tonight. Cllr Colin Rayner (Con, Horton and Wraysbury) will take the chains from outgoing mayor Cllr Asghar Majeed (Con, Oldfield) in a ceremony at Windsor Guildhall. UPDATE: Driver due to be interviewed over Cordwallis collision

A man arrested after his car collided with a row of parked cars before flipping onto its roof in Maidenhead is due to be interview by police. The 30-year-old driver was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital by ambulance after the collision on Tuesday, May 8. He was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, disqualified driving, failing to provide a specimen and possession of a controlled substance.

Driver, 19, fined after car crash

A 19-year-old woman accused of crashing her car into another in Station Parade car park in Cookham has been fined. Victoria Woodhams, of Camden Road, Maidenhead, was driving her Volkswagen Polo in the car park on July 20 last year when she allegedly caused damage to a silver Citroen C2. She was initially accused of failing to stop and failing to report the accident to the police, but both charges against her were dropped.


Sailing club holds open day

Families took to the water and got some wind in their sails at a free sailing day. Cookham Reach Sailing Club opened its doors to the public on Saturday and invited them to try their hand at dingy sailing. Guide dog visits children at school

A dog called Elliot has helped to teach children at Cookham Montessori School about visual impairments. The four-legged friend visited the school in Grange Road on Tuesday last week with his owner Eric Griffiths and Guide Dogs for the Blind trainer Charlie Pelham. They spoke to pupils in two sessions and used an obstacle course to demonstrate how Elliot helps Eric on a day-to-day basis.


Drug dealers escape prison sentence

Two drug dealers have been given suspended prison sentences after admitting selling cannabis in Maidenhead. Jordan Plumridge, and Connor Plumridge, both of Greenfields, had both pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to supply a class B drug. They were sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday.


Burglar-proofing tips offered at roadshow

A 20-year-old woman was due in court today charged with stealing about £400 from Next in Maidenhead while working for the company.     Take flight and help support Maidenhead's art centre. An auction of promises is being held in aid of the Altwood Road arts centre on Saturday, May 19. Among the host of prizes up for grabs is a flight from White Waltham Airfield. The fundraising event is being organised by Maidenhead and District Arts Council (MDAC) as part of the Dig Deep campaign launched by the Advertiser and Norden Farm a year ago. Its aim is to help boost funding for the venue which has lost its £143,000 annual grant from Arts Council England.
