Skindles owners go into administration

4:40pm Tue 30th Jun 09:: written by Gareth McPherson

A lavish plan to resurrect the famous Skindles hotel in Taplow is under threat after its owners went into administration.

Developers Watchword Ltd, who bought the site in 2006 for £30.25m, hoped to build a four-star luxury hotel on the riverside, as well as about 180 homes.

A footbridge connecting Maidenhead and Taplow was also being weaved into the plans for the old paper mill land, which included ambitious man-made lagoons.

Malcolm Cohen and Shay Bannon, of BDO Stoy Hayward LLP, were appointed as administrators in the High Court on June 23.

It is currently unclear exactly what will happen to the massive riverside development, which covers a 45-acre mix of industrial, greenbelt and conservation area land.
